SOUNDSCAN Report: ROB ZOMBIE, ATREYU, RAMMSTEIN, GUNS N' ROSES, AC/DC
April 5, 2006The following are notable heavy metal/hard rock U.S. sales debuts for the week ending April 2, 2006, as reported by Nielsen SoundScan (all figures are rounded to the nearest thousand, except numbers under 1,000, which are rounded to the nearest hundred; The Billboard 200 chart position included, where applicable):
ROB ZOMBIE – "Educated Horses": 107,000 (#5)
ATREYU – "A Death-Grip on Yesterday": 69,000 (#9)
RAMMSTEIN – "Rosenrot": 21,000 (#47)
Also of note: GUNS N' ROSES' "Greatest Hits" collection, which was originally issued in March of 2004, sold more than 11,000 copies in the United States last week, bringing the total number of copies sold since its release to 2.86 million, according to Nielsen SoundScan. Even more impressively, AC/DC's "Back in Black" — which came out in 1980 — shifted more than 8,000 units in the United States last week, adding to its 21-million-plus total and cementing its status as one of the top-selling rock/pop albums of all time.
